Next Wednesday, October 30, our favorite auctioneer will once again make the journey to Washington D.C. to mingle with more career politicians and their cronies at a fundraiser for him hosted by the Gula Graham Group.

This is not Long's first D.C. fundraiser

Wanna bet Jeff Roe and his Axiom Strategies (Roe and his company are Billy Long's 'handlers') are getting ready to go "Brazil" on Scott Eckersley?

Billy Long's October disclosure report, filed Friday with the Federal Election Commission indicates he spent $418,000 during the past three months, with the biggest amount, $158,247.62 going to Roe's Axiom Strategies.

That amount included the following expenditures:

-One thousand, five hundred yard signs, $3,107.72

-Direct mail, "Goodman contrast" $2,193.57

-Direct mail, "Goodman and Nodler contrast" $22,976.70

-"Pro-life" direct mail, $10,491.;49

-August and September strategy consulting retainers, $5,000

-Advertising legal review, $1,616.50

-One thousand bumper stickers, $234.72

- Listed as "see details" , $90,000+

The attacks and the robocalls against Long's general election opponent, Scott Eckersley appear to be on the horizon. The FEC documents indicate Long paid Roe's consulting firm $5,500 for an "opposition research package," $7,906 for VOIP phone rental and $7,896 for "188,000 VOIP phone minutes."

Jeff Roe ran a vicious negative campaign against Joe Brazil in 2006. While the following tragedy did happen, Roe made up the beer drinking and driving drunk part. The investigating police department said no alcohol was involved. That didn't stop Roe from posting the following on his blog:

According to www.darwinawards.com, in 1982, Brazil was attempting to pull off a senior class prank at McCluer North High School in Florissant, Missouri. Brazil plan was to deposit thousands of pounds of sand into the school’s faculty parking lot. Brazil even owned a dump truck that could be used to aid in the prank.

After quite a few beers, Brazil and his buddies loaded up the dump truck with sand and drove to the school. One of Brazil’s friends, Norval Pierce sat on top of the bed of the truck while Brazil dumped the sand. Brazil drove slowly while dumping, attempting to adequately spread the sand in the parking lot. As Brazil was driving, the truck jumped forward, throwing Pierce through the frame of the truck. Not realizing what had happened, Brazil continued to drive while drunk and dumping sand. Brazil proceeded to crush Pierce under the truck.

So now we have another instance of Brazil’s irresponsibility and not owning up to his mistakes. What else do we need to know Joe?

A man who wanted to buy an Ass went to market, and, coming across a likely-looking beast, arranged with the owner that he should be allowed to take him home on trial to see what he was like.

When he reached home, he put him into his stable along with the other asses. The newcomer took a look round, and immediately went and chose a place next to the laziest and greediest beast in the stable.

When the master saw this he put a halter on him at once, and led him off and handed him over to his owner again.

The latter was a good deal surprised to seem him back so soon, and said, "Why, do you mean to say you have tested him already?"

"I don't want to put him through any more tests," replied the other. "I could see what sort of beast he is from the companion he chose for himself."

and all Long got for his money was traffic tickets?So much for being fiscally responsible.

Long and Blunt want to "repeal and replace Obamacare" -- specifics please.

Billy Long said last week that there are "a lot of good things" in the Health care bill.

He also has said he wants to repeal and replace it.

Ditto for Roy Blunt.

How popular is the idea of repealing health care? Depends on how the question is phrased.

From the Daily Dish:

U]nderstanding what the public means when they say they want ‘repeal’ might be a more nuanced task than it seems. In the latest Bloomberg National Poll, a robust 47 percent of likely voters say they want to repeal health reform. But asked to say whether each of eight specific provisions should be repealed, majorities wanted to keep six of them (perhaps not surprising, given previous polling that suggests many of the early provisions are widely popular).

For example, roughly three in four likely voters want to keep the temporary high risk pools, the right to guaranteed issue, and the provisions which close the doughnut hole. Two in three want to keep the provisions which allow young adults to stay on their parents’ health insurance, and nearly as many back the exchanges. What, exactly, do most likely voters actually want to repeal? Six in ten want to repeal taxes on so-called Cadillac health insurance plans, and about half want to repeal the individual mandate. In other words, for at least a sizable group of voters, an expressed desire to ‘repeal’ health reform may actually represent much more mixed views on the full content of the new law.
